About the Role

The Transport Porter will deliver a safe, caring, and efficient service for patients being transported within Imperial core hospital sites. This role is crucial for managing the day-to-day movement of patients, aiming to reduce site time for ACA's and streamline collections and drop-offs. The position focuses on improving patient flow by assisting with patient movement, emphasizing timeliness, infection prevention, high-quality care, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day running of the service, particularly patient flow.
  • Take direction and priority patient movements from the hospital site team.
  • Consolidate collection points for road crews, moving patients to transport or discharge lounges.
  • Assist in loading/unloading patients from ambulances and transporting them to/from appointments.
  • Complete full takeover/handover in line with training.
  • Provide real-time handover and contact made times to the hospital site team via radio.
  • Record real-time handover and contact made times.
  • Accurately report any concerns, including safeguarding, in line with current policies.
  • Conduct onsite patient risk assessments to determine booking suitability.
  • Handle informal complaints or issues, de-escalating or escalating as appropriate.
  • Attend meetings with the Patient Liaison Manager to review patient collection and book ready times.
  • Ensure tasks contribute to performance targets and proactively find solutions.
  • Undertake patient-facing duties, assisting crews with patient movements and manual handling.
  • Assist patients to vehicles and to/from wards/departments, including comfort breaks.
  • Maintain links with hospital teams to support positive working relationships and collaboration.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties within skill base as required by the Company.
  • Be responsible for own personal and professional development, including statutory and mandatory training.
  • Attend and actively participate in Company refresher training.
  • Implement and adhere to statutory regulations and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Company values, integrity, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence.
  • No more than 6 points on your licence.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements of CCG authorisation.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to work within a multi-professional team and develop team working.
  • IT skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to listen and document feedback concisely and without bias.
