About the Role
The Night Auditor plays a critical role in ensuring a seamless overnight operation by delivering exceptional guest service, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting hotel safety and security, and assisting with the preparation of the daily breakfast service.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.
- Process guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently and accurately.
- Respond to guest requests, questions, and concerns in a timely manner.
- Handle reservations, room assignments, and room changes as needed.
- Resolve guest issues and complaints while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls.
- Maintain knowledge of hotel services, amenities, and local attractions.
- Complete the nightly audit process and ensure all daily transactions are balanced and posted correctly.
- Reconcile room revenue, cash receipts, credit card transactions, and other hotel accounts.
- Prepare, print, and distribute daily financial and operational reports.
- Verify the accuracy of guest accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Process charges, payments, refunds, and adjustments as needed.
- Ensure all financial records are maintained in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain front desk operations during overnight hours.
- Monitor hotel security and safety practices and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Conduct routine property inspections and security walks as required.
- Ensure the lobby, front desk, and public areas remain clean, organized, and guest-ready.
- Communicate important information, guest concerns, and operational issues to management and incoming shifts.
- Assist the Breakfast Attendant with the setup and preparation of the daily breakfast service, including stocking food and beverage items, replenishing supplies, arranging the breakfast area, and ensuring cleanliness and presentation standards are met prior to service.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations and guest satisfaction.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous hotel front desk, hospitality, customer service, or accounting experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic accounting and cash-handling knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Proficiency with hotel property management systems and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to perform light cleaning, stocking, and breakfast setup duties.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
