Responsibilities

• Provide pragmatic, proportionate compliance advice to senior stakeholders.
• Embed a “compliant by design” approach across products, pricing, and customer journeys.
• Support decision-making by balancing regulatory requirements with commercial objectives.
• Act as a trusted advisor across key business areas.
• Partner with compliance leadership to ensure you, and your team, remain abreast of ongoing regulatory developments.
• Support the business in preparing for and responding to regulatory engagement and audits.
• Lead delivery of key regulatory initiatives, including: Vulnerable customer frameworks, Consumer Duty embedding and outcomes monitoring, Pricing / fair value enhancements.
• Ensure that regulatory change is effectively embedded and sustained, not just implemented.
• Own and oversee the Compliance Monitoring Programme, setting the monitoring plan, priorities and quality standards for the team member delivering it, and ensuring outputs give the business robust assurance.
• Ensure issues identified are understood, prioritised, and effectively remediated.
• Provide challenge to the business where progress is insufficient.
• Ensure clear accountability for actions and outcomes.
• Line Manage Data Protection SME.
• Support alignment between compliance and data protection activities ensuring the DPO is sighted on all relevant activity.
• Ensure visibility and appropriate escalation of data protection risks.
• Support regulatory interactions, audits and reviews.
• Contribute to Governance forums and senior reporting.
• Support horizon scanning and carry out regulatory impact assessments where required.

Requirements

• Experienced compliance professional with strong generalist knowledge and the ability to operate at both a strategic and hands on level.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment and enjoy partnering with the business to deliver practical solutions.
• Bring confidence, pragmatism and leadership – alongside a clear focus to deliver good customer outcomes.
• Strong experience within a compliance role in general insurance.
• Broad understanding of FCA regulation and conduct risk.
• Experience delivering regulatory change and business transformation.
• Ability to engage, influence, and challenge senior stakeholders.
• Strong commercial awareness and pragmatic mindset.
• Experience developing or managing people.
• Ability to operate with autonomy and support senior leadership.
