About the Role
Weston & Sampson is seeking a Construction Inspector for oversight and inspection of utility and infrastructure projects in the Suffern area of New York. This role offers professional development within a team of engineers.
Responsibilities
- Review contract documents and construction management requirements to identify and report compliance.
- Complete SWPPP inspections and reports.
- Confirm compliance of drawings and modifications, measure quantities, observe quality of construction, prepare daily records, and report problems.
- Review and evaluate contractor work schedules and updates.
- Coordinate with clients, manage contracts, and report findings.
- Liaise with and attend site meetings to discuss construction work, potential problems, and progress.
- Maintain positive relationships with municipal staff and contractors.
- Perform overtime as required and travel locally.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Erosion Control inspections and related work.
- Experience with general construction inspection policies, procedures, and administrative requirements.
- Experience with Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word and Excel is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience interpreting contract documents, including compliance with prevailing safety regulations.
- Ability to prepare and maintain electronic field records efficiently and accurately.
- Ability to work well with contractors, engineers, municipality, and residents.
- Excellent public relations, written and verbal communication, and organizational/time management skills.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Receptive to working in inclement weather.
