About the Role
The MUFG Corporate Governance team is seeking a Senior Consultant, also known as a Company Secretary, to deliver company secretarial services and corporate governance advice to a diverse client portfolio. This role involves acting as a key point of contact for technical queries and contributing to the business's commercial success, with opportunities to work with new technologies like AI.
Responsibilities
- Deliver company secretarial services and corporate governance advice to a diverse portfolio of clients.
- Ensure service excellence in line with agreed timescales and internal processes.
- Act as a key point of contact for technical queries.
- Proactively contribute to the commercial success of the business.
- Provide timely and expert corporate governance advice and support to a varied portfolio of clients, including complex and high profile listed companies.
- Attend and minute client board and committee meetings.
- Proactively contribute to operational and / or client related improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to or lead internal and external technical initiatives, e.g. training sessions, webinars and articles and share technical knowledge with other team members.
- Actively engage with colleagues within MUFG Corporate Markets, seeking to develop networks and establishing mutually beneficial relationships.
- Develop strong client relationships with intermediaries, third parties and key client contacts so to be seen as the first point of contact.
- Accurately draft, prepare and review relevant documentation.
- Provide accurate and timely data and advise and support junior colleagues.
Requirements
- To be CGI qualified (ACG – Associate of the Chartered Governance Institute).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong client facing and relationship management skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Demonstrable company secretarial experience in the UK, including extensive knowledge of UK company law, the UK Listing Rules and best practice.
- Capability of operating in the Board Room, with excellent minute taking skills and extensive experience in drafting accurate and comprehensive minutes.
- Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing conflicting deadlines.
- Commercial awareness and a desire to work within a professional services environment, with a broad understanding of this model, preferably with experience of working within such an environment.
- Ability to integrate into a dynamic team, working in a collaborative manner and taking a client lead role, whilst supporting colleagues when necessary.
- Experience of working in other jurisdictions.
- A Degree or Masters in Law, Governance, Business or Finance.
- Experience of client relationship management, timesheet entry systems and Board portals.
