About the Role
The OITS finance team manages four groups, with the largest being the Fern group, overseeing over 300 companies across 5 countries. This role involves managing specific parts of the OITS portfolio, including preparing management accounts and supporting consolidation efforts within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Complete understanding of Octopus Inheritance Tax Products (OITS), their portfolios, and commercial operations.
- Full ownership of certain OITS portfolio components, including completing management accounts.
- Ownership of sub-consolidations within the Fern group, covering various sectors.
- Utilize new consolidation software to prepare accurate consolidated results.
- Collaborate with internal and external finance teams for monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting.
- Review subsidiary budgets, challenge assumptions, and analyze performance against budget for board reporting.
- Work with Company Secretarial to ensure accurate calculation and recording of equity transactions.
- Liaise with auditors, accounts preparation, tax teams, and other parties for audits and financial statements.
- Take ownership of specific areas of the group audit.
- Research new technical accounting areas and provide recommendations on accounting policy.
- Draft accounting papers for new transactions or policy changes.
- Support Financial Controller & Finance Managers in improving reporting processes.
- Provide prompt and accurate financial information to investment teams.
- Undertake ad-hoc projects as required.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA).
- Ideally from an audit or financial services background.
- Group consolidation experience is essential.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support the team in a fast-paced environment.
- Works well with others, building positive relationships across teams and welcoming feedback.
- Organized and reliable, with good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Communicates clearly and professionally, raising questions or issues when needed.
- Takes ownership of their work and approaches tasks with openness and a positive attitude.
- Looks for ways to improve processes and contribute ideas that help the team work more effectively.
