About the Role

The Group Insurance Underwriter is responsible for assessing risk and making decisions related to the sale, amendment, and renewal of employer group plans. This role involves analyzing intricate data, solving problems, and interacting with various departments throughout the client's plan lifespan. Successful candidates will have opportunities for career advancement within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Performing analysis for quoting, negotiating, and authorizing risk acceptance within a specified authority level.
  • Ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Managing the pricing of assigned in-force caseload, including annual rate and expense renewals, in-force quotes, marketings, and amendment approvals.
  • Managing all aspects of financial reporting for an assigned caseload.
  • Producing financial and service agreements on assigned caseload.
  • Quotation of new business.
  • Communicating decisions and responding promptly and professionally to business development representatives, clients, or advisors.
  • Building positive working relationships with peers and other internal business areas.
  • Meeting with Senior Leaders as appropriate, respecting specified authority levels.
  • Acting as an Underwriting resource for various projects and departmental initiatives.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Reliability Status Security Clearance required, to be completed after an offer of employment.
  • Ability to work towards a GBA or full CEBS designation under the CEBS program.
