About the Role
Jon Michael Design is searching for a passionate and talented Art Director (temporary) to join us. The ideal candidate has experience working on beauty-focused product packaging.
Responsibilities
- Lead and engage the design team with passion, inspiration, and energy to create award-winning work.
- Collaborate with the Creative Director to direct creative output on client programs from concept to completion.
- Lead by example to ensure the team delivers exceptional creative work.
- Provide inspiring guidance and feedback to the design team to achieve great creative outputs.
- Design and contribute content to credentials presentations.
- Contribute to pitch preparation under the direction of the Creative Director.
- Maintain packaging standards and evolve visual systems for new markets, partnerships, and legal requirements.
- Provide direction and inspiration, and communicate with the Creative Director on team and project status.
- Contribute ideas and original content for thought pieces, social media, and internal sharing.
- Own the day-to-day quality of creative deliverables across various projects.
- Work with the Creative Director and Project Manager to ensure creative output is delivered within agreed timings and budgets.
- Ensure appropriate process and resources are utilized.
Requirements
- BFA or BS in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, or related major.
- Experienced user of Adobe CC (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat).
- Strong branding and design skills.
- Ability to render in 2D for presentations.
- In-depth knowledge of packaging design, printing, materials, and structure.
- Retouching capabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Proven experience as an inspiring Sr. Designer or Art Director with strategic understanding, capable of leading high-level, demanding, and complex projects.
- Demonstrable experience of consistently taking work beyond the brief to the next level.
- Responsible for the timely and precise creation of packaging designs from concept to completion.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities, anticipate demands, and communicate status appropriately.
- Ability to prepare mockup packaging for client review.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
