About the Role

Landmark Ventures is seeking an exceptional Director, Brand & Marketing Communications to lead how Landmark and our growing portfolio of brands communicate with the world. This is a senior, hands-on role at the intersection of brand, communications, content and marketing; a brand-first position for someone with strong creative judgment and taste. The Director will own and elevate Landmark’s brand voice, messaging and communications standards; lead the development of high-value content and communications; steward our portfolio of brands; and help bring new brands, programs and initiatives from idea to launch.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve how Landmark and our portfolio of brands show up in the world.
  • Own Landmark’s brand voice, messaging, positioning and communications standards.
  • Translate brand strategy into practical guidelines, messaging frameworks and tools that can be used across the organization.
  • Ensure brand consistency and quality across websites, presentations, proposals, marketing materials, events and digital experiences.
  • Serve as a steward of Landmark’s brand guidelines and help teams apply them thoughtfully across different audiences and contexts.
  • Partner with leadership to continually refine how Landmark tells its story to clients, prospects, partners, employees and other stakeholders.
  • Help oversee and evolve the identities of Landmark’s growing portfolio of brands.
  • Serve as a senior writer, editor and communications partner for Landmark’s most important work.
  • Write, edit and elevate high-value communications across the organization.
  • Develop and refine website copy, presentations, pitch decks, proposals, capabilities materials, executive communications, thought leadership, event invitations, speaker materials and other strategic content.
  • Partner with company leadership on communications that require a particularly high level of thought, nuance or polish.
  • Establish editorial standards for voice, tone, structure and quality across Landmark.
  • Help teams translate complex ideas into clear, concise and compelling communications.
  • Review and improve work produced internally, externally or with AI before it reaches important audiences.
  • Translate Landmark’s brands, ideas and stories into compelling market-facing communications.
  • Partner with marketing, sales, events and business teams to develop messaging and content for campaigns, launches and ongoing communications.
  • Develop content across email, web, social, events, sales materials and other marketing channels.
  • Help establish content strategies and editorial calendars across Landmark and its portfolio of brands.
  • Ensure communications are tailored appropriately for different audiences, objectives and channels rather than simply repeating the same message everywhere.
  • Develop repeatable messaging, templates and content systems that enable teams to produce high-quality work more efficiently.
  • Support thought leadership and other content initiatives that strengthen Landmark’s market presence and point of view.
  • Help turn new ideas into real brands, programs, events and communities.
  • Lead or support the development of positioning, naming, messaging and brand architecture for new initiatives.
  • Develop clear creative and brand briefs that translate strategy into actionable direction.
  • Work with designers and creative partners to develop visual identities, websites, launch materials and supporting brand assets.
  • Manage brand and creative projects from initial concept through development, refinement and launch.
  • Help establish the guidelines, templates and foundational materials needed to successfully operate a new brand after launch.
  • Maintain coherence across Landmark’s portfolio while allowing individual brands to have distinct identities and personalities.
  • Brief and direct graphic designers, web developers, agencies, freelancers and other creative partners.
  • Provide clear, thoughtful and actionable feedback throughout the creative process.
  • Review creative work for messaging, design, brand consistency and overall quality.
  • Bring strong visual judgment and taste to websites, presentations, proposals and other market-facing work, ensuring the words, visuals and overall presentation work together.
  • Recognize when work feels generic, dated, inconsistent or simply not at the level we should be putting into the marketplace – and articulate why.
  • Manage communications, brand and creative projects from brief through final delivery.
  • Help navigate and manage the right external creative resources for different projects.
  • Maintain high standards while balancing quality, speed, budget and practical business needs.
  • Help Landmark develop an AI-leveraged approach to communications without producing AI-toned communications.
  • Use modern AI tools extensively for research, ideation, drafting, iteration, editing and creative exploration.
  • Develop effective approaches to incorporating AI across different communications workflows.
  • Help establish AI-enabled tools, processes and standards that improve the speed and quality of content creation across Landmark.
  • Apply strong editorial judgment to distinguish genuinely strong ideas from polished but generic output.
  • Ensure final communications retain originality, personality, accuracy and a distinctly human point of view.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in brand, communications, content, marketing communications, editorial, creative or a related discipline.
  • Exceptional creative judgment and brand instincts, including strong writing and editing skills and a highly developed visual sensibility, with a portfolio demonstrating high-quality market-facing work across multiple formats.
  • Demonstrated experience developing brand positioning, messaging, voice and communications standards.
  • Experience creating and overseeing content across websites, presentations, proposals, campaigns, events and other external communications.
  • Strong understanding of brand identity and enough design fluency to effectively brief, direct and evaluate creative work.
  • Experience developing creative briefs and managing designers, developers, agencies or other external creative partners.
  • Experience bringing brands, products, programs or campaigns from concept through launch.
  • Strong fluency with modern AI tools and AI-assisted creative workflows.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple brands, projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working directly with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong business curiosity and the ability to understand sophisticated B2B audiences, complex offerings and the commercial objective behind a communication.
  • High standards, strong attention to detail and the ability to move from strategy to hands-on execution.
  • Agency experience or experience managing multiple brands or experience in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment is a plus.
