About the Role

Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) seeks a dedicated Maintenance Worker to support the Facilities Department. This role is crucial in maintaining a clean and professional work environment across agency buildings, ensuring adherence to HCZ standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
  • Vacuum, steam-clean and/or shampoo carpets.
  • Sweep, mop, strip, seal, finish, and/or polish floors.
  • Clean laboratory equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
  • Notify the immediate supervisor of all facility-related items at the assigned site.
  • Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas as needed.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have prior experience.
  • Must pass a fingerprint background check and Physical/TB test.
  • Must be able to follow procedures for the safe use of cleaners and equipment, in order to prevent bodily harm and damage to the facility.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require you to lift, push, pull or carry heavy/large objects.

  • 1st Shift 8am-3pm
  • 2nd Shift 11am-6pm
  • 3rd Shift 6pm-1am
