About the Role
Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Pickup and Delivery Clerk to support drivers with necessary paperwork and assist dispatchers with administrative tasks, contributing to the company's mission of helping businesses keep their promises.
Responsibilities
- Print drivers’ manifest and provide hazardous materials of lading to appropriate personnel.
- Scan bills of lading and driver receipts into the system for billers.
- Handle and process checks, CODs, or cash, ensuring safe storage.
- Verify delivery receipts and signatures.
- Verify and record cash or check payments.
- Manually enter exception Drivers Receipt process on pro numbers.
- Assist operations by monitoring and following up on various reports (e.g., EDI, spot trailer, spotted shipment report).
- Assist in OS&D functions, including free astray and undelivered freight reports and exceptions.
- Answer phones promptly, set appointments, and trace shipments.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1 year of office and/or operations experience, preferably in the transportation industry.
- Experience in using handheld computers/scanners.
- Experience with AS400 preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented.
