About the Role

SWARCO UK & Ireland is seeking a Controller Production Assembler to join their manufacturing team. This hands-on role involves the assembly, wiring, and testing of specialist SWARCO products like traffic signal controllers and variable message signs. The ideal candidate will have a practical, reliable, and technically minded approach with a strong attention to detail and a desire to produce high-quality work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safe, accurate, and efficient electro-mechanical assembly, wiring, testing, and preparation of SWARCO products.
  • Assemble and wire traffic signal controller and roadside controller cabinets.
  • Prepare cables, connectors, and wiring looms.
  • Carry out cabinet wiring and fit electrical components.
  • Assemble mechanical components, enclosures, prisms, and trailers.
  • Read and follow technical drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and kit lists.
  • Perform basic functional testing of completed products.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Support PCB assembly/repair and basic mechanical assembly activities.
  • Prepare and fit sign faces and assemble MDU units.
  • Ensure completed work meets SWARCO’s quality and production standards.
  • Identify and report quality issues or non-conformances.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with 5S principles.
  • Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives.
  • Work across different manufacturing cells as needed.
  • Support general factory improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to take pride in producing high-quality work.
  • Experience in an electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, or manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing training or qualifications.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, BOMs, or similar documentation.
  • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Understanding of quality control and safe working practices.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proactive approach and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
