About the Role
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement in pharmacy automation operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities, analyze process performance, document workflows, and implement Lean and Six Sigma solutions.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of Lean manufacturing initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance workflow.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes and assist in developing standard work instructions, process maps, and value stream analyses.
- Assist with time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing to optimize production efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify and resolve process bottlenecks and quality issues.
- Participate in kaizen events, 5S audits, and other continuous improvement activities.
- Collect and analyze data using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Minitab to monitor process performance and support decision-making.
- Prepare and present findings, recommendations, and implementation plans to the manufacturing engineering team.
- Help implement mistake-proofing (poka-yoke) techniques and visual management tools to improve process reliability.
Requirements
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (coursework or project experience preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a hands-on, team-oriented attitude.
- Passion for innovation and improving manufacturing systems.
