About the Role

This internship offers hands-on experience supporting supply chain activities, from supplier engagement through manufacturing to customer delivery. You will work with professionals in supply chain, materials, purchasing, operations, engineering, and manufacturing to ensure timely and cost-effective material availability. The program provides exposure to the full materials and supply chain lifecycle, including purchasing, supplier relations, inventory management, production needs, logistics, and risk management. You will contribute to projects impacting operational efficiency, inventory investment, production schedules, and customer commitments. The internship runs for 10 weeks from June 1, 2027, to August 6, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day materials management by monitoring material requirements, inventory levels, open purchase orders, and production needs.
  • Assist with purchasing activities by creating, reviewing, and tracking purchase orders.
  • Monitor supplier performance by tracking lead times, delivery dates, shortages, and other issues.
  • Communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to obtain order status updates and resolve material availability issues.
  • Support inventory management by analyzing levels, identifying excess/obsolete materials, and investigating discrepancies.
  • Assist with MRP/ERP activities by reviewing system-generated material requirements and purchase recommendations.
  • Help maintain accurate materials and item master data.
  • Support production planning by identifying material shortages and potential constraints.
  • Help identify and resolve material shortages by researching availability and potential solutions.
  • Support new product introduction and engineering changes by assessing material requirements and supply chain impacts.
  • Assist with supplier sourcing and procurement projects by researching suppliers and gathering quotes.
  • Analyze supply chain costs to identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Assist with logistics and material movement coordination.
  • Document and improve supply chain processes by creating work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in supply chain processes.
  • Develop and maintain supply chain reports and trackers using tools like Excel, ERP/MRP systems, and Smartsheet.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects to resolve issues and improve supply chain performance.
  • Learn and apply supply chain best practices.
  • Contribute to projects that improve material availability, reduce costs, and support on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics, Materials Management, or a related field.
  • Interested in learning how materials, purchasing, suppliers, inventory, manufacturing, and logistics work together.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and using data for decision-making.
  • Strong communication skills for working with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Collaborative team member willing to ask questions, learn, and take ownership.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employer will not sponsor work visas.
