About the Role

Join The University of Law as a Skills Coach/Senior Skills Coach to make a difference in an apprentice’s journey. This role involves working directly with apprentices to develop their work-based skills and prepare them for their end-point assessment, aligning with the University’s strategy and contributing to leading-edge practice.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality coaching and support for learning and skills development.
  • Contribute to effective design and review of inclusive learning.
  • Maintain quality standards and regulations in curricular design.
  • Identify and respond to the needs of individual apprentices and their circumstances.
  • Sign-post apprentices on pastoral aspects during their learning journey.
  • Refer apprentices as appropriate to services providing further support.
  • Routinely communicate complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers using high-level skills.
  • Supervise apprentice portfolios and the academic elements of work-based learning.
  • Provide effective support to students in their continuation, completion, and progression outcomes.

Requirements

  • Qualified as a Solicitor or Barrister in England and Wales.
  • Relevant teaching/coaching qualification or willingness to work towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) (coaching route).
  • Sufficient breadth and depth of professional experience in the relevant discipline to develop teaching programmes and learning support.
  • Able to communicate complex and conceptual ideas/information to a range of groups.
  • Professional, credible, commands respect.
  • Organised with excellent prioritisation skills.
  • Must be able to prove the right to work in the UK.
  • Some posts may be subject to a DBS check.

  • £40,500 - £42,500 (Skills Coach)
  • £49,000 - £54,000 (Senior Skills Coach)
