About the Role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be the technical face of Watcher to customers, owning the entire lifecycle from technical evaluations and POCs to deployment, integration, and ongoing support. This is a startup role with significant influence on how the product is deployed and supported, offering opportunities for growth into leadership positions.

Responsibilities

  • Own customer deployments end to end, including cloud, on-prem, and self-hosted backends.
  • Build integrations between Watcher and customer environments, such as coding agent setups, SIEM tooling, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Configure and tune monitors, policies, and permissions for customer workflows.
  • Debug issues in customer environments and drive them to resolution with the product team.
  • Run technical evaluations and POCs with prospects, demonstrating concrete value.
  • Serve as the technical counterpart to security and engineering leaders during evaluations.
  • Collaborate on security questionnaires, architecture reviews, and customer pen-test support.
  • Provide honest feedback on technical deal progression.
  • Act as the named technical contact for key customers, owning escalations and incident communication.
  • Build customer-specific capabilities and contribute to the product roadmap.
  • Develop documentation, deployment tooling, and runbooks to improve deployment efficiency.
  • Represent the voice of the customer in product planning.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience building and shipping production software.
  • Proficiency across the stack, primarily Python and TypeScript.
  • Ability to read unfamiliar code quickly.
  • Comfort with cloud infrastructure, networking basics, and deployment tooling.
  • Strong customer communication skills, with the ability to engage both engineers and leadership.
  • Calm and constructive demeanor under pressure.
  • High degree of initiative and ownership.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with changing priorities.
  • Sound judgment in distinguishing between custom requests and product enhancements.
  • Strong written communication skills for documentation and reports.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI tools for engineering and customer work, maintaining high standards for output.
