About the Role
The Centre for Information Resilience (CIR) is seeking a contractor to translate analytical reports and other project materials related to human rights incidents and violence in Myanmar. This role is crucial for ensuring reliable information is accessible to diverse stakeholders and for holding perpetrators accountable.
Responsibilities
- Translate analytical reports and other analytical products from English to Burmese, adhering to style guides.
- Translate website content, visual assets, infographics, presentations, reports, training materials, and multimedia materials between English and Burmese.
- Collaborate with the Investigations Manager/Editor, Project Coordinator, and Social Media and Website Manager to understand translation requirements and timelines.
- Upload Burmese versions of analytical reports to the CIR website, ensuring correct formatting.
- Provide ad hoc translation support for website content and other project materials.
- Liaise with investigators and social media team members to ensure accurate translations of analytical products.
- Coordinate with the Social Media and Website Manager and Project Coordinator for review of translations to ensure alignment with the Burmese context.
- Report progress and flag concerns to the Social Media and Website Manager and Project Coordinator.
Requirements
- Native or near-native proficiency in Burmese (Myanmar Language).
- Proven track record of Burmese translations.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and PDF editing tools.
- Prior experience conducting translations about research focused on conflict trends and incidents in Myanmar and/or Southeast Asia.
- Experience with website management, especially content upload.
- Demonstrable experience supporting CSOs working in the Myanmar context.
