About the Role

The Behavioral Health Therapist IV is an integral part of the Behavioral Health treatment team, providing clinical treatment services including comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plan implementation under the direction of the Behavioral Health Director and treating Psychiatrist.

Responsibilities

• Provides assessment and screening services to individuals interested in becoming participants in the mental health program.
• Conducts intake and psycho-social assessments.
• Provides treatment services to a caseload of 30-50 clients, based on show rate, modalities provided, and utilization/billing targets.
• Facilitates related services for health center patients while respecting confidentiality and privacy.
• Evaluates assessments and makes diagnoses.
• Develops and implements treatment plans according to OMH standards.
• Provides psychotherapy and psycho-education utilizing individual, family, and group models.
• Participates in regular clinical supervision to discuss cases.
• Demonstrates understanding of transference and countertransference and willingness to explore personal feelings in supervision.
• Comfortable confronting, contracting with, and holding clients accountable for their choices.
• Involves clients in their own treatment planning and education about their mental illness.
• Develops and maintains clinical records according to OMH standards.
• Ensures patients receive coordinated and related services.
• Participates in case conferences with case management staff and other clinical team members.
• Meets with consulting psychiatrist for treatment plan development and direction.
• Provides case intervention, including home visits, escorting clients to the emergency room, and assisting in developing plans for clients at risk.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk or sit for an extended period of time.

• Ability to work in a moderate noise level environment.

Skills

• One to three years experience as a Clinical Social Worker
• Specialized education and training in mental health
• Demonstrated ability to organize and document information in accordance with OMH standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Interest in and conviction of purpose and aims for all programs in the Agency.
• Respect for the rights of individuals to make their own decisions about their medical care.
• Ability to communicate easily and display a cordial manner towards individuals from a variety of socio-economic, cultural and religious backgrounds.

Experience Level
