About the Role
We are seeking a fullstack engineer with a strong backend focus to design reliable systems, ensure correctness, and apply software fundamentals to operational problems. This role is central to extending platform ownership deeper into the stack, offering significant influence over platform layer definition.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop shared backend services and APIs with clear contracts and abstractions.
- Understand platform limitations impacting product teams and implement user-facing improvements.
- Build and operate robust systems with a focus on continuous improvement through analysis and iteration.
- Write clean, maintainable, high-quality code across the stack.
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
- Collaborate on system design, tech stack decisions, and platform boundaries.
- Guide technical direction on major initiatives like migrations and platform capabilities.
- Mentor team members.
- Promote innovation and collaboration by improving processes, tools, and team practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a software engineering role, with a clear backend focus.
- Genuine fullstack capability: comfortable working in a modern React/TypeScript codebase.
- Experience with functional programming concepts or languages.
- Strong understanding of core engineering principles including type systems, composition, testing, Clean Code, and Clean Architecture.
- Ability to translate business problems into precise requirements, specifications, and code.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: link daily work to team and company goals, balance cost and benefit, deliver high-quality solutions efficiently.
- Take responsibility for technical work, the platform, and the team.
- Simplify complex systems, identify core concepts, and communicate complex ideas clearly.
