About the Role

The Regional Commercial & Procurement Manager (UK) will be a core commercial driver executing Field’s Balance of Plant (BoP) and grid connection procurement strategy across our UK BESS pipeline. This role requires a hands-on approach, bridging engineering specifications with sharp contract negotiation to deliver projects safely, fast, and on budget.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the full end-to-end procurement process for UK BoP packages, including drafting RFQs, structuring tender packs, conducting bid evaluations, and driving direct price and contract negotiations.
  • Work closely with engineering and estimating teams to challenge and optimize BoP cost models, unbundling supplier quotes to strip out unnecessary risk premiums while keeping projects bankable.
  • Continuously map the UK construction and HV supply chain, keeping real-time intelligence on contractor capacity, material lead times, and pricing trends across UK DNOs and National Grid connections.
  • Act as the primary lead negotiator for BoP and long-lead equipment agreements, negotiating robust terms under NEC or FIDIC frameworks without relying solely on external legal teams.
  • Establish clear Employer's Requirements and boundary matrices on-site to actively eliminate interface risks between BESS OEMs, BoP contractors, and grid operators.
  • Build mechanisms comparing estimated costs against actual execution data to continuously refine Field’s UK CapEx benchmarks.
  • Build strong, accountable relationships with UK Tier-1 and regional BoP contractors to secure execution capacity.
  • Navigate UK grid connection requirements (132kV / 400kV), planning constraints, and revenue scheme rules alongside technical teams.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (MSc / MEng) in Engineering (Electrical, Power, Civil, or related) is required.
  • An MBA or equivalent commercial post-graduate qualification is strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of proven hands-on experience in Renewable Energy procurement, commercial management, or high-value infrastructure construction in the UK.
  • Demonstrated experience in directly structuring tenders, unbundling cost models, and negotiating complex construction contracts (NEC/FIDIC).
  • Full fluency in English.
