About the Role
Joining our Facilities team and working across our central Sydney Scape portfolio, you’ll help keep the best purpose-built student accommodation in Australia running safely and smoothly. Plumbers are responsible for the preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of plumbing and hydraulic systems across our properties, working closely with Facilities Managers to ensure residents enjoy a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained place to live.
Responsibilities
- Performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and diagnosing plumbing problems to repair or replace broken pipes, taps and other components
- Servicing and maintaining gas and electric hot water systems, and locating and repairing issues with water supply and waste lines, including leaks and blockages
- Carrying out CCTV drain inspections and responding to emergency plumbing calls, including after-hours work or on-call rotations as needed
- Installing, maintaining and repairing hydraulic systems and equipment, and installing, testing and commissioning new equipment or system upgrades during capital works or facility modifications
- Ensuring all plumbing installation, repair and commissioning work is carried out in accordance with AS/NZS 3500 (Plumbing and Drainage) and relevant state regulations
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records, inspection logs and up-to-date hydraulic drawings
- Liaising and coordinating with Facilities Managers and other maintenance trades to schedule work and minimise disruption to residents
- Participating in a 7-day on-call roster, responding promptly to emergency breakdowns and urgent repairs outside normal working hours
- Identifying opportunities to improve water efficiency and recommending upgrades, repairs or fixture replacements where appropriate
Requirements
- A current, government-issued Plumbing, Drainage and Gas Fitting Licence (specific requirements vary by state/territory)
- A current Construction Induction Card (White Card) for construction sites
- Experience providing plumbing services, and using and maintaining power tools and equipment
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic theory, water distribution and waste systems
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting hydraulic schematics, as-builts and technical manuals
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work unsupervised and follow directions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively across teams
- Additional certifications for high-risk work, working at heights, or confined spaces are advantageous
- A current First Aid Certificate and valid driver's licence
- Willing to undertake a National Police Check and a Working with Children Check
