About the Role
WSP is seeking an ITS and Traffic Signal Designer to join their Planning & Mobility team in Sydney. This role involves contributing to the planning, design, and delivery of innovative transport solutions, focusing on improving network performance, safety, and mobility outcomes. Projects include traffic signal design, corridor optimisation, smart motorways, intelligent mobility, digital infrastructure, road safety, and major transport infrastructure programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop traffic signal and ITS designs for transport infrastructure projects.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
- Support the delivery of TfNSW traffic signal plans, charts, and cableway drawings.
- Contribute to the planning and integration of ITS technologies, communications networks, and smart mobility solutions.
- Work closely with transport planners, traffic engineers, road designers, and digital specialists within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Assist with technical reporting, client deliverables, and project coordination.
- Support project delivery from concept through detailed design and implementation.
Requirements
- A degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechatronic, Transport, or related Engineering discipline.
- Approximately 3-10 years' experience in Traffic Control Signals (TCS).
- Demonstrated experience with traffic signal design and operation, ideally including SCATS.
- Knowledge of TfNSW traffic signals standards, specifications, and guidelines, and relevant Australian Standards.
- Experience using AutoCAD, ProjectWise, or design software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- A collaborative mindset and desire to learn from experienced industry leaders.
- Experience delivering TfNSW Traffic Signal design plans and drawings.
- Knowledge of detector logic and standard tables development.
- Experience delivering ITS infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to major road, motorway, tunnel, rail, or urban mobility projects.
- Working towards or holding Chartered status.
