About the Role
As an Equipment Breakdown Underwriter on the Global Corporate & Specialty (GCS) team, you will assess and underwrite equipment breakdown exposures, evaluate risk, and deliver customized coverage solutions across diverse industries. Success requires technical expertise, analytical judgment, attention to detail, and relationship-building skills.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite equipment breakdown insurance policies by assessing risk, pricing coverage, and determining appropriate terms and conditions.
- Analyze technical specifications and maintenance records of clients to evaluate risk.
- Work closely with brokers and clients to gather relevant information and answer policy-related inquiries.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored coverage solutions for clients.
- Monitor and manage the performance of existing policies, making adjustments as necessary.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to machinery breakdown insurance.
- Deliver best-in-class customer service.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in insurance, engineering, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in machinery breakdown underwriting or a similar role within the insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of machinery and equipment, including their operation, maintenance, and failure modes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and brokers.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
