About the Role

This is a new opportunity for a Director, Financial Control and Procurement to lead the strategic financial control and procurement functions for the Premier’s Department and The Cabinet Office, ensuring sound financial oversight, effective procurement practices, and robust budget management and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the departments’ financial control and procurement functions.
  • Oversee procurement policy and provide practical advice on best practice.
  • Provide expert financial advice to senior executives and support informed decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant government policies, financial controls and reporting requirements.
  • Guide the preparation of accurate financial reports and maintain robust budget management systems.
  • Deliver major projects and drive continuous improvement across finance and procurement operations.

Requirements

  • Experienced CPA with strong technical and government finance expertise.
  • Strong compliance mindset, sound risk awareness and ability to build trusted partnerships.
  • Positive, inclusive leadership and ability to provide clear guidance to team, senior executives and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead finance and procurement functions, ensuring strong governance and operational excellence across a complex environment.
  • Deep accounting knowledge and experience in audit and compliance within government frameworks.
  • Extensive experience across financial management disciplines and substantial experience in financial project management.
  • Skilled in navigating public sector financial policy, legislative requirements, audit requirements and delivering advice that supports informed decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving the provision of timely and quality insights and evidentiary data to meet Executive, Treasury and other Government requirements.
  • Proven capability to manage complex projects, balance competing priorities, and drive improvements in financial performance.
  • Experienced in building high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, and guiding staff through evolving priorities with confidence.
