About the Role
As a Chef in our team, you will work closely with Dietitians, Cooks, fellow Chefs, and Kitchen Assistants to prepare high-quality, appetising meals for patients, hospital staff, doctors, and visitors. You will be responsible for safe food handling and preparation, ensuring all hygiene and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards are met. This is a casual role offering 3 eight-hour shifts per week, on a rotating roster. Shifts offer a variety of functions and responsibilities including food preparation, cooking, food presentation, meal plating, cold larder, texture modified food and allergen management. Shift times vary between 5:30 am and 8pm, 7 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality, appetising meals for patients, hospital staff, doctors, and visitors.
- Ensure safe food handling and preparation.
- Meet all hygiene and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
- Engage in food preparation, cooking, food presentation, meal plating, cold larder, texture modified food and allergen management.
Requirements
- Hold a Commercial Cookery Trade Certificate.
- Minimum of 2 years cooking experience (post trade qualification) ideally in bulk fresh food production or a large-scale food service setting such as a hospital, café, or commercial kitchen.
- Demonstrated knowledge and training in Food Safety, WH&S and dietary requirements in line with current legislation and standards.
- Confident operating industrial kitchen equipment, including bratt pans, kettles, combi ovens, and commercial dishwashers.
- Self-motivated and take pride in producing high-quality meals that support patient care and staff wellbeing.
- Availability to work 3 eight-hour shifts per week consistently on a 7-day rotating roster.
