About the Role

We are seeking a Social Worker to join our Mothers in Mind® MIM team on a short-term contract until January 16, 2027. MIM is a 10-12 week program that provides a mother–child playgroup environment emphasizing mothers’ choice, strengths and empowerment, and an awareness of the impact of trauma on parenting, child development, and the parent–child relationship. You will work with mothers and their young children up to age four in group settings, on-site at our CDI location, in a partner shelter, or at our partnered program at a Children’s Aid Society of Toronto location. You will also co-lead our Here to Help, 12-week group intervention program for mothers with children 4-18 years old who have experienced family violence.

Responsibilities

Foster a safe space for parents and young children, empowering them to build strong and nurturing relationships in a playful learning environment.
Administer psycho-social assessments in partnership with clients and the multidisciplinary team to develop a clinical formulation and treatment plan.
Lead evidence-based and evidence-informed group therapy, monitoring progress and modifying treatment plans as needed.
Manage case files to ensure coordinated and timely delivery of services, including intake, assessment, transition, and discharge planning.
Conduct ongoing assessments using child and parent evaluation measures, submitting data for analysis and addressing clinical risk.
Complete reporting in compliance with agency and accreditation standards, including report writing, treatment planning, and maintaining agency records.
Learn and share knowledge by participating in clinical supervision, staying updated on clinical practices, and potentially contributing to training programs.

Requirements

Registered Social Worker in good standing with the relevant professional college (e.g., OCSWSSW or CRPO).
Willingness to engage with children aged 0-4 and their parents in group therapy sessions.
Professional experience in children's mental health, including infant mental health, learning disabilities, family violence, and trauma.
Clinical skills in assessment, formulation, and treatment with flexible strategies for engaging families, individuals, and groups.
Strong clinical knowledge and experience in relevant theoretical approaches (e.g., trauma-informed treatment, attachment, CBT, TF-CBT).
Adherence to excellence in professional and ethical standards, including client interaction, documentation, and confidentiality.
Exceptional communication and listening skills, with the ability to gain trust and nurture relationships.
Ability to balance priorities, manage interruptions, and handle crisis situations.
Dedicated and flexible team player with respect for diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
Flexibility to work one to two evenings a week for co-facilitating group sessions.
Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check.
