About the Role

This on-site, contract position offers an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced medical practice environment while enjoying flexibility and professional growth. As a Locum NP/PA in our urgent care setting, you will play a critical role in diagnosing and treating patients with acute medical conditions, performing minor procedures, and collaborating with physicians and healthcare staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes. You will bring your clinical expertise to a supportive team that values compassionate care and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive urgent care services including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute illnesses and minor injuries
  • Perform common urgent care procedures such as wound care, suturing, splinting, and minor incision and drainage
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including lab work, X-rays, and EKGs
  • Prescribe medications and provide appropriate patient education and follow-up instructions
  • Collaborate with attending physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate patient care
  • Document patient encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Manage patient flow efficiently to minimize wait times and maintain high-quality care standards
  • Respond to medical emergencies and stabilize patients as needed until advanced care is available
  • Educate patients and families on preventive care, treatment plans, and medication management
  • Adhere to all clinical protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory compliance requirements

Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician's Assistant (PA) license in the state of Texas
  • National board certification as an NP or PA (ANCC, AANP, NCCPA, or equivalent)
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or family practice
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Proficiency in performing minor procedures such as suturing, splinting, and wound care
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and team members
  • Ability to work independently in an on-site setting and manage multiple patients efficiently
  • DEA license and ability to prescribe controlled substances in accordance with state regulations
  • Experience with EMR systems and digital health documentation platforms
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, as required in urgent care
  • Must be able to work with pediatric patients 3 months old and up
