About the Role
The Site Engagement Leader is responsible for developing, managing, and overseeing relationships with key sites and institutions. This role aims to build GSK's reputation locally and create an optimal clinical trials environment for timely, high-quality results.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a site engagement plan to build and nurture relationships with various site types.
- Enhance the GSK portfolio of clinical investigator sites through partnerships to attract more studies.
- Coordinate and oversee partnership activities with institutions that have high potential for patient recruitment, data quality, and technical support.
- Drive collaboration with internal teams (Japan Development, Japan Medical Affairs, central site engagement, LOC) regarding partnerships.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with investigators, research coordinators, and site leadership.
- Provide an operational vision of future GSK clinical research therapeutic areas and portfolio to external stakeholders.
- Offer strategic input for operational excellence, process efficiency, and trial delivery.
- Identify and share best practices to optimize quality and productivity across the site network.
- Drive performance by setting KPI targets and conducting regular performance reviews with partners.
- Implement solutions to reduce cycle times and optimize enrollment.
- Lead site visits to provide operational support and address challenges.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks to quality and compliance at study and site levels.
- Collaborate with planning, Feasibility, Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs for optimal site placement and study performance.
- Lead or contribute to high-level country feasibilities and support local teams.
- Optimize site activation timelines, including regulatory packets, budgets, CTAs, onboarding, and training.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (preferably life science) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in clinical research operations or similar pharmaceutical industry roles.
- Therapeutic area experience in Oncology, Respiratory, or Hepatology.
- Solid knowledge of ICH-GCP, local regulations, and regulatory processes.
- Excellent understanding of the Clinical Operation Process, including monitoring.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience working in matrix teams.
- Strong client relationship and stakeholder management abilities.
- Agility to adapt to evolving strategic, operational, and pipeline landscapes.
- Fluent Japanese and business-level English (spoken and written).
- Must have the legal right to work in Japan.
