About the Role
As a Physical Therapist in an outpatient facility, you will assess patients, provide hands-on therapy, document progress, educate patients and families, and mentor others. This role is crucial in supporting patient recovery and rebuilding strength, mobility, and confidence.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients of all ages, understand their specific needs, and partner with them and their families to set realistic goals.
- Provide treatments using targeted exercises and specialized equipment, adjusting the approach based on patient progress.
- Write clear, timely progress notes and discharge summaries.
- Collaborate directly with doctors and nurses on care plans.
- Teach patients and families about their recovery process.
- Supervise PT students, aides, and volunteers.
- Share knowledge with the therapy team.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- An active New York State Physical Therapist license or eligibility.
- Passed state exam.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtained at time of hire.
- A valid NYS Driver's License.
Skills
- Solid understanding of physical therapy treatments and medical terminology.
- Ability to evaluate clinical data and create clear recovery goals.
- Confidence to make independent decisions.
- Warm, clear communication style for explaining evaluation results to families.
- Skill to instruct patients of all ages on safe movement and exercises.
- Experience using computers and standard office or clinical documentation software.
