About the Role
Petra is seeking a quantitative generalist to own the company's operational backbone, working closely with the founders. This role will focus on finance, including forecasting, budgeting, and KPIs, while also flexing into legal, compliance, and broader operations. It offers exposure to company-wide operations and the opportunity to build scalable systems.
Responsibilities
- Own financial modeling and forecasting, including building and maintaining the financial model, running scenarios, and tracking runway and burn.
- Drive KPIs and planning by developing business metrics, running the quarterly planning process, and following up on goals.
- Partner with accounting on the monthly close, revenue recognition, and maintaining audit-ready books.
- Run point on legal operations, including managing contracts, coordinating with outside counsel, and organizing agreements and entity documentation.
- Own compliance workstreams, supporting SOC 2 and other frameworks, tracking obligations, and maintaining good standing across jurisdictions.
- Manage IT and security operations, including device procurement and provisioning, access management, and vendor tooling.
- Build systems and playbooks to enable functional scaling and codify processes.
- Assist in shaping dedicated functions and career development as the company scales.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in a quantitative, analytical role, ideally at a PE firm or investment bank.
- Fluency with financial statements and forecasting, including building models from scratch and defending assumptions.
- Ability to move fast without sacrificing quality, applying judgment on where perfection is necessary.
- Self-starter with a bias toward action, comfortable wearing multiple hats and building from scratch.
- Comfort with ambiguity, ability to quickly learn unfamiliar areas and build workable solutions.
- Good intuition for building process and creating order.
- Willingness to take on any task the business requires.
