About the Role
This position serves as the primary contact for Japanese customers, driving business development and supporting communication between customers and internal teams. It also facilitates technical and quality issue resolution with production sites.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with global GKN PM Sales/Engineering teams to develop and maintain business with global Japanese customers.
- Visit local and international customers, including production plants for training or audits.
- Engage in design discussions, PPAP documentation, quality issue handling, and support audits at global GKN sites.
- Manage and grow existing customer accounts.
- Drive new business acquisition, including researching new application areas, developing new customers, and supporting RFQ processes through to series production.
- Coordinate closely with Engineering and Production to manage complex customer projects.
- Conduct market-relevant analyses and reporting.
- Contribute to product group strategy development.
- Support the implementation of company-wide business objectives.
- Prepare routine reports.
Requirements
- 3-4 years of mechanical engineering/commercial experience in the automotive industry; PM experience is preferable.
- English proficiency for communication with GKN global sites.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, ideally in the automotive supplier environment.
- Experience in sales and key account management or purchasing.
- Strong business and process acumen.
- High level of coordination, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Hands-on mentality, agility, and adaptability.
- Strong analytical and empathetic capabilities.
- Good Office (Excel/PPT) skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50%.
- Willingness to work with global colleagues across different time zones, including occasional early or late meetings.
