Responsibilities
- Deliver and assist residents with daily needs, including personal care, preparation for activities, and routine tasks.
- Provide basic nursing care and perform basic nursing procedures under the direction of a licensed nurse supervisor.
- Assist residents with personal hygiene, including bedpans, urinals, baths, shampoos, and shaves.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including serving meals, feeding, ambulating, turning, and positioning.
- Assist with lifting, positioning, and transporting residents, ensuring safety needs are met.
- Prepare residents for and transport them to appointments, activities, and social programs.
- Participate in meal service, including serving, clearing, and cleaning the dining room.
- Ensure residents are positioned appropriately for meals and have necessary utensils.
- Serve food trays and assist with feeding as indicated.
- Deliver and document all snacks and supplements.
- Provide hydration to all residents according to center policy.
- Perform personal care services to residents as requested.
- Prepare equipment and assist nurses during treatments and examinations.
- Check residents regularly, answer call lights promptly, and report resident problems or needs to the supervisor.
- Monitor resident stability by checking vital signs and weight, testing urine, and recording intake and output.
- Provide resident comfort by utilizing resources, transporting residents, answering call lights, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor.
- Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Maintain resident confidentiality.
- Adhere to professional standards, company policies, and federal, state, and local requirements.
- Review care plans routinely for changes in resident care routines.
- Participate in and receive nursing reports during duty reporting and shift changes.
- Make occupied and unoccupied beds and change linens according to infection control guidelines.
- Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions.
- Maintain cleanliness of resident units, bathing areas, treatment and supply rooms, workrooms, and linen closets.
- Clean bedpans, urinals, commodes, basins, and emesis basins.
- Sanitize bathtubs after each resident's use.
- Clean floors if a resident is incontinent and wipe up spilled foods and liquids.
- Provide post-mortem care as instructed.
Requirements
- Must have valid certification in good standing.
- High School graduate preferred.
