About the Role

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Store Development, this role manages a team, provides direction, and oversees planogram development, store communication, and Operations at the Lab Store in Scarborough.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Space Planning function, overseeing Space Planning Specialists, setting priorities and standards, managing performance, and ensuring quality and timeliness of output.
  • Own the planogram operating calendar, managing the schedule from development through launch, including timelines, inventory readiness, walkthroughs, releases, delists/exit strategies, issue resolution, and compliance.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Category VPs, Visual Merchandising, Store Operations, inventory/supply-chain stakeholders, Store Development, consultants, and executives.
  • Drive continuous improvement through new initiatives, strategic opportunities, standards, and innovative solutions.
  • Connect merchandising strategy to store execution, translating assortment, space, inventory, and merchandising decisions into actionable plans for stores.

Requirements

  • Requires an advanced level of initiative and judgment to organize and prioritize tasks, workload, and projects.

  • Decisions are typically broad-based, involving multiple resources outside direct authority.
  • Communicates with clarity verbally and in one-on-one or group situations, or over the telephone.
  • Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents, with facility in editing and/or proof-reading.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in merchandising, business, marketing, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a retail environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience.

Skills

  • Understanding of Category Management principles (planograms).
  • Strong understanding of Store Operations (layout planning and implementation).
  • Ability to drive performance and execution within all areas of the business.
  • Business acumen – demonstrated understanding of quality standards relative to project management and planning.
  • Superior practical knowledge of Space Planning, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Directs a varied unit or function by reinforcing its direction and developing its effectiveness.
  • Advanced understanding of merchandising, category management principles (planograms), and store operations (layout planning and implementation).
  • Knowledge of space optimization or space management software.
  • Business acumen - advanced understanding of quality standards relative to merchandising and store planning concepts.

Salary/Compensations

  • $120,000.00 - $154,000.00 per year
