About the Role

The SCG-FW division of Microchip Technology is seeking a Senior Engineer with 5-7 years of experience to join their Hauppauge office. This role involves understanding specifications, working with existing products for FW Bootloader design, and unit testing new FW features. You will also be involved in developing test firmware, software utilities, and debugging applications on hardware like FPGAs and evaluation boards. Additionally, you will develop FW & SW test suites for embedded processors and functional blocks, resolve design issues, and support internal teams to ensure product readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Define and outline firmware architecture.
  • Develop coding for new products, and maintain/modify code for existing products using embedded C/C++.
  • Maintain software design documentation.
  • Write test reports for newly added features.
  • Develop base features for team use in developing test firmware for unit testing.
  • Set and codify firmware guidelines and best practices.
  • Work with internal groups to ensure product production readiness.
  • Identify and mitigate development risks with project team members and produce development plans.
  • Conduct software requirements analysis, software risk analysis, and software performance analysis.

Requirements

  • Experience in embedded programming on microcontrollers using C/C++.
  • Experience with common microcontroller and/or embedded processing platforms such as ARM Cortex M4/M55.
  • Experience with common debugging tools to troubleshoot embedded code and implement corrections.
  • Experience with Integrated Development Environment (IDE) Software Programs.
  • Firmware development experience using Microchip PIC Microcontrollers with MPLab IDEs is a plus.
  • Understanding of higher-level languages, object-oriented methodologies, and user-interface implementation for hardware and software debug.
  • Demonstrated skill in independently using electronics lab equipment to develop/troubleshoot.
  • Proficient on ARM processor Cortex M4/M55 architecture & features.
  • Proficient with Keil, Visual Studio, MPLab tools.
  • Python and/or Perl scripting language is a plus.
  • Proficient in hardware integration for interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB, etc.
  • Proficient in security - crypto algorithms AES, HASH, ECC, PQC.
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA or any development platform.
  • Strong team player, proactive, motivated, and self-driven.
