About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Review new and existing surety claim demands from claimants and/or their legal counsel.
  • Analyze bond terms and conditions, and review documentation submitted by claimants.
  • Review and discuss surety bond principal’s position related to claims.
  • Conduct factual and/or legal analysis of surety’s potential defenses and obligations.
  • Manage outside legal counsel and review draft legal pleadings for litigation involving Nationwide issued surety bonds.
  • Determine necessary steps to process work.
  • Make preliminary determination on validity of claims.
  • Recommend possible resolution or mitigation of claim exposure consistent with Nationwide’s bonded liability.

Requirements

  • Pursuing Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Involvement in student activities and/or some work experience.
  • Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.
  • Nationwide determines whether to offer sponsorship for qualifying positions based on business need and budget, but it is not usually available for entry level roles.
  • Smoking is prohibited in all enclosed areas on or around company premises as well as company issued vehicles.
  • Designated smoking areas are offered where smoking is permitted at each individual location.
  • The Act prohibits retaliation for reporting complaints or violations.
