About the Role

As a Tax Senior Associate within our Global Employer Services, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing complex Canadian/US personal income tax returns, preparing Canadian and U.S. payroll estimates, and demonstrating a solid understanding of tax codes, regulations, rulings, and case law. You will also be responsible for ensuring client work is performed on time and within budget, identifying client needs for growth opportunities, communicating with corporate clients and their assignees, and assisting with consulting projects.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of complex Canadian/US personal income tax returns under manager supervision
  • Preparation of Canadian and U.S. payroll estimates including hypothetical tax and shadow payroll
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of tax codes, regulations, rulings and case law
  • Responsible for client work being performed on time and within appropriate scope of services and budget
  • Stays alert to client needs that may result in growth opportunities for the firm and communicates to client service coordinator
  • Communication with corporate clients and their assignees
  • Assist with identification and conducting various consulting project including, but not limited to, compensation, internal client policies and other ad hoc activities

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or related field from an accredited university
  • Two years of relevant Tax experience in a large accounting firm or similar firm/environment
  • Comprehensive understanding of tax law/rules and implications
  • Experience preparing personal income tax and payroll calculations
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance with firm and client standards
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means
  • Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality of work in a fast paced, client service environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including the ability to sit for extended periods of time and work at a computer and other standard office equipment
  • Ability to maintain consistent, onsite presence during core business hours including the ability to regularly report to a firm office location and travel to client sites as required, including access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to work extended and/or non standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs
