About the Role
To obtain sufficient blood specimens for accurate laboratory analysis as requested by physicians, acting as a liaison between patients, nursing personnel, and house staff. This role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate patient care.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens via venipuncture and skin puncture according to physician orders, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure patients are provided with necessary information and are comfortable and safe.
- Identify patients, communicate procedures, and perform assigned phlebotomy duties.
- Adhere to established safety guidelines, including the use of appropriate equipment and practices.
- Obtain, label, and transport required specimens to the specified area.
- Prepare specimens for processing and complete associated paperwork.
- Manage incoming calls and provide necessary information.
- Greet patients and/or their representatives and provide direction.
- Schedule or pre-schedule patient appointments, if applicable.
- Interview patients and/or their representatives for necessary information and complete the registration process.
- Verify insurance eligibility/coverage and obtain necessary authorizations.
- Ensure data accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Exhibit effective communication skills with patients, physicians, and hospital personnel.
- Be flexible and able to travel to multiple Patient Service Centers or affiliated centers.
- Demonstrate commitment to RGHS Standards of Behavior (STARS).
Requirements
- Medium Work: Exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, or negligible to 10 pounds constantly.
- Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
- Flexibility and transportation to multiple Patient Service Centers or other affiliated centers required.

- Monday - Friday, variable day shifts between 6:00a and 5:00p
- Every third weekend rotation (either Saturday or Sunday)
