About the Role

Tomo is seeking a hands-on data leader to own the data function end-to-end and build out the team. This director-level role involves a player-coach approach, requiring you to design experiments, build data models, and partner with business stakeholders while also establishing the team and processes for scalability. You will serve as the primary data representative to the leadership team, translating business questions into actionable insights and models.

Responsibilities

Own the data function end-to-end, including strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and platform health.
Build and develop the data team, hiring across data science, analytics/business intelligence, and data engineering.
Drive marketing measurement and experimentation, including building attribution models.
Write SQL, build dbt models, and work in notebooks to set the technical standard.
Ensure data pipelines and infrastructure are reliable, performant, and cost-efficient.
Partner with Product and Engineering to shape data instrumentation and capture.
Own the data narrative with the executive team and manage team priorities.

Requirements

AI Fluent, including democratization and enablement.
Strong data science and experimentation foundation with expertise in statistics and experimental design.
Proficient in SQL and the modern data stack.
Demonstrated ability to operate across data science, analytics/BI, and data engineering.
Strong business and stakeholder fluency, capable of translating ambiguous business questions into data work and communicating results to non-technical leaders.
Proven track record in a zero-to-one capacity, such as being an early data hire, building a function from scratch, or stepping into a first leadership role.
Hands-on marketing analytics and paid-media measurement experience.
