About the Role
Colliers International is seeking a Property Accountant to join its dynamic team in Toronto. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will ensure monthly deadlines are met and special projects are completed on time. Your expertise in property accounting and strong communication skills will be essential to your success.
Responsibilities
- Prepare financial reports and analyses for individual properties or consolidated portfolios.
- Ensure financial information is accurate and delivered on time.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process and reforecasting.
- Complete year‑end adjustments and tenant billing.
- CAM and Tax reconciliations/adjustments.
- Prepare working papers for year‑end audits.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and produce financial statements.
- Perform monthly accounting tasks: journal entries, bank reconciliations, chargebacks, etc..
- Ensure GST/QST reconciliation and remittance.
- Manage bad debt provisions and tenant security deposits.
- Monitor cash flow and anticipate future needs.
- Collaborate closely with operations, leasing, and construction teams.
Requirements
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience, preferably in commercial real estate property accounting or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work professionally under pressure.
- Strong autonomy, initiative, and teamwork skills.
- Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.
- Strong Excel, Word and Outlook knowledge.
- Experience with real estate accounting systems, especially Yardi.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
