About the Role

WEIS is seeking an Assistant Customer Experience Manager who is passionate about teamwork and the growth of its associates and communities. This role promotes excellent customer relations, oversees front-end operations, and ensures adherence to company policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Promote excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates.
  • Assist Customer Experience Manager in overseeing all aspects of front-end operations.
  • Perform duties of the Customer Experience Manager in their absence.
  • Enforce cash handling control and security measures to identify and prevent losses.
  • Follow and enforce all company policies/procedures related to Front End operations.
  • Adhere to all company and state laws and regulations related to Anti-Money Laundering Compliance, tobacco and alcohol sales, lottery, price accuracy, WIC, etc.
  • Oversee bookkeeping procedures.
  • Assist Customer Experience Associates with getting change, checking prices, voids, refunds, etc.
  • Conduct unannounced audits on cashiers.
  • Assist store management in onboarding customer experience associates.
  • Train associates to provide a fast, friendly, accurate, and efficient checkout experience.
  • Implement and communicate new programs and procedures to associates.
  • Recognize and reward associate performance.
  • Participate in associate annual performance reviews.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) for current and new associates.
  • Utilize the auto-scheduler system to update Front End associate availabilities, headcounts, and schedules.
  • Control supply costs while ensuring adequate inventory levels.
  • Direct the flow of customers through the Front End.
  • Ensure sufficient checkouts are open to service customers, keeping wait time to a minimum.
  • Monitor breaks and lunches to ensure customer service is not interrupted.
  • Oversee lot attendant service to assist customers with shopping carts and loading groceries.
  • Operate front-end scanning equipment and register, performing all related check out procedures.
  • Assist customer service with answering phone calls.
  • Use intercom for necessary announcements or pages.
  • Maintain functionality of equipment, hardware, and software.
  • Report any issues requiring further resolution in a timely manner.
  • Communicate all information to cashiers regarding special promotions and sale items.
  • Generate sales by suggestive selling.
  • Attend and participate in store’s daily huddles.
  • Maintain knowledge of weekly ads, marketing promotions, and store layout.
  • Oversee safety and sanitation of the parking lot, porch, entrance/exit, and checkout area.
  • Keep cart corrals and parking lot clean and clear of carts.
  • Responsible for general sanitation in the department.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and department guidelines.
  • Dispose of trash properly.
  • Ensure smooth function of department and store by cooperating with co-workers and superiors.
  • Continuously improve job performance.
  • Assist with baling cardboard or other related duties (if properly trained).
  • Assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries (if properly trained).
  • Responsible for utilization of all company-provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE).
  • May assist in other departments.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without an accommodation.
  • Supervises associates within the department.
  • May assume total leadership of the building in absence of store management.
  • Specific number of associates under supervision is dependent upon the store size and presence of store management.
