About the Role
Join Apple's Core Operating Systems group to work on groundbreaking technologies like iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. This role involves crafting distinct, holistic user experiences and upholding the excellence expected from Apple devices. You will contribute to core technology powering Apple's operating systems, including subsystems like the Secure Enclave Processor OS.
Responsibilities
- Design and implementation of secure operating systems, including kernel, runtime, and system services.
- Work with multi-functional teams to bring up, test, debug, and verify software for new platforms and products.
- Contribute to security requirements and features for future hardware.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science or related fields.
- Able to commit to a 4-months of internship, preferably starting in January 2027.
Skills
- Background in operation systems development (kernel, low-level runtime, system services, driver frameworks, component models).
- Understanding of system construction principles in a microkernel-based environment.
- Understanding of computer architecture (CPUs, memory, caches, interrupts).
- Proficiency in C.
- Practice of good software engineering principles (type systems, identification and prevention of undefined behaviour, property-based testing, formal verification).
- Keen eye for security flaws such as buffer overruns.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
