About the Role
Dome Construction is seeking a Field Human Resources Business Partner to serve as a trusted advisor, coach, and resource for field employees and leaders. This role focuses on building strong relationships, fostering trust, and providing hands-on partnership where work happens, ensuring a positive employee experience and fair policy application.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a regular presence on jobsites to build relationships and stay connected to field employee needs.
- Serve as a trusted HR partner for field employees, Foremen, Superintendents, and Operations leaders.
- Provide real-time coaching on employee relations, performance management, communication, conflict resolution, documentation, and leadership effectiveness.
- Interpret and support the administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Help employees and leaders understand applicable union benefits, requirements, rules, and processes.
- Assist with grievances and communicate professionally with union representatives.
- Coordinate union dispatching, staffing changes, layoffs, recalls, transfers, and workforce movement between projects.
- Conduct workplace investigations and support corrective action, performance management, and employee documentation.
- Lead employee check-ins, stay interviews, exit interviews, and onboarding follow-ups.
- Provide onsite onboarding and orientation support for field employees.
- Partner with Benefits and Leaves, Safety, Payroll, HR, and field leadership on employee concerns, leaves, accommodations, workplace injuries, and return-to-work planning.
- Monitor trends involving employee relations matters, grievances, injuries, separations, onboarding feedback, and workforce changes to support proactive decision-making.
Requirements
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.
- Five or more years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations, investigations, performance management, and employment law compliance.
- Experience supporting a field-based, construction, skilled trades, operational, or unionized workforce.
- Familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreements, union benefits, union rules and regulations, grievance processes, and labor relations practices.
- Strong knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices.
- Ability to build trust with employees and leaders across different roles and levels.
- Sound judgment when managing sensitive, confidential, or high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities while remaining responsive and visible in the field.
- Proficiency with HR systems and Microsoft Office.
- Comfort navigating jobsites, including uneven surfaces, stairs, and temporary project facilities, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Must be comfortable with potential customer worksite vaccination requirements, with reasonable accommodations provided for medical or religious reasons.

Salary/Compensations
- $120,000—$160,000 USD
