About the Role
Clay is scaling rapidly, and this new IT role bridges the gap between the IT Support Team and the Systems Engineer. You will own the operational layer ensuring reliability as the company grows, focusing on systems of record, vendors, and essential IT tooling. This position requires ownership and execution, working alongside the Head of IT and Systems Engineer on system build-outs, change management, and IT advancement projects. The role emphasizes maintaining accurate, governed, and improving IT machinery rather than solely closing tickets.
Responsibilities
- Own MDM for the Mac fleet in Jamf, including configuration profiles, zero-touch enrollment, custom scripts, and remediation.
- Manage the smaller Windows footprint.
- Operate and improve MDM, not just maintain it.
- Own the CMDB, asset data, and the ITAM vendor, maintaining Clay's source of truth for assets and systems.
- Manage the relationship with the hardware warehousing partner, including procurement, shipments, deployments, and collections.
- Shape and own the reconciliation process for asset data, ensuring accuracy and reconciliation against IdP and HR systems.
- Own vendor management and renewals, tracking contracts, managing renewals, handling license true-ups, and keeping SaaS and hardware agreements current.
- Help maintain compliance benchmarks (SOC 2, ISO 27001) by working with the Security team on offboarding rigor, access review cycles, and evidence collection.
- Administer and govern the SaaS stack including Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom, focusing on provisioning, settings, group and access hygiene.
- Keep documentation current, including runbooks, configuration records, and process docs.
- Partner on change management and IT projects, working with the Head of IT on a lightweight change management process.
- Take escalations from the Support team on owned systems and tooling.
Requirements
- 6-8+ years in IT, with significant experience in a senior operations, systems, or infrastructure role.
- Proven track record of operating and maintaining IT systems at scale.
- Deep MDM experience: hands-on ownership of Jamf, or similar cloud MDM, including configuration profiles, zero-touch enrollment, and scripting.
- Bash scripting for macOS management.
- Familiarity with Windows MDM for managing a small footprint.
- Deep day-to-day Okta administration experience, including application integrations, group and access management, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working within SOC 2 and ISO 27001 in an IT context: access reviews, offboarding rigor, and evidence collection.
- Experience owning ITAM or a CMDB: asset tracking, inventory reconciliation, and maintaining records across systems.
- Vendor management experience: contracts, renewals, license management, and holding vendors accountable.
- Broad SaaS admin experience across Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and a modern stack.
- Strong documentation skills; ability to write clearly and keep documentation current.
- AI-forward mindset: utilizing AI tools for efficiency and intelligent volume handling.
- Clear communication skills, able to maintain process integrity without hindering IT progress.
