About the Role

Responsibilities

• Create lesson plans and teach adults English as a second language using a comprehensive curriculum.
• Assess students' English language proficiency using standardized tools and adjust their level placement.
• Network with internal and external service providers to offer referrals that meet participant needs and promote program objectives.
• Maintain timely record-keeping to comply with funding source guidelines.
• Supervise and provide guidelines to staff and volunteers.
• Recruit and evaluate program participants, monitor their progress, and recommend appropriate classes.
• Maintain accountability for all participants, staff, and volunteers.
• Serve as a professional role model and collaborate effectively with other project staff.
• Ensure compliance with funding source guidelines and Catholic Charities policies and procedures.

Requirements

• TESOL degree and/or TESOL certification from a state licensing agency.
• Minimum of two years of experience in TESOL instruction in a classroom setting with a structured curriculum.
• Valid N.Y.S. Driver's License.
• NYS driver's license check.
• State Central Register Clearance.
• Mobility sufficient for driving to and participating in meetings at client's homes and community facilities that may not meet accessibility standards.
• Manual dexterity necessary for working with children and adults in a challenging and active environment.
