About the Role
Supervising day-to-day production operations, including root cause analysis, operating issue correction, and employee activity management. Ensuring safe operations, achieving key targets, managing resources effectively, leading continuous improvement, and managing scheduling to meet production objectives.
Responsibilities
- Support operation of production departments to meet quantitative and qualitative measures, including health and safety, standard costs, cost reductions, productivity, GMP, sanitation, customer satisfaction, production scheduling, staffing, and capital/technological improvement plans.
- Promote excellence in all production activities, focusing on quality, yield, cost containment, and minimizing re-work or downgrades.
- Provide leadership to improve health and safety performance by being a safety role model and demonstrating due diligence.
- Implement necessary controls, training, education, and audits for incident prevention.
- Take corrective action to address unsafe situations and employee behaviors, upholding safety rules and procedures.
- Provide leadership and supervision to staff through work direction, performance feedback, and training recommendations.
- Promote a positive labor-management relationship and ensure compliance with the Collective Agreement and relevant statutes.
- Ensure GMP and S.O.Ps are adhered to and products consistently meet specifications.
- Ensure timely and thorough sanitation of equipment and facilities.
- Participate in the development and implementation of operational and capital budgets, safety compliance, training, and production plans.
- Monitor results against plans and support corrective action plans.
- Participate in and manage the SAP sanitation module program, including implementation and monitoring of the facility cleaning and sanitation program.
- Provide supervision and hands-on support to the team by participating in sanitation and cleaning activities as required.
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in food production supervision.
- Experienced as a supervisor and/or providing leadership to production teams in the dairy or related food or pharmaceutical industry.
- HACCP exposure preferred.
- Certified and/or experienced in supervisory responsibilities under WSIB/WCB, OSHA, and First Aid.
- Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), as well as business systems such as SAP.
- Must be available to work designated shift and work alternative shifts for part of the year to cover vacations.
