About the Role
As a Physical Therapist, you will provide compassionate care to patients, ensuring rehabilitation success. This role involves planning, organizing, and implementing specific treatment programs, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and supervising support personnel. The lead role also trains, mentors, coaches team members, and identifies process improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient impairment and current condition to evaluate rehabilitation potential.
- Report on patient progress and communicate effectively with physicians and other team members.
- Counsel patients and families according to their degree of disability or impairment.
- Develop physical therapy treatment plans for each patient.
- Train patients in functional mobility, use of assistive devices, therapeutic exercise, balance and coordination retraining, massage, heat, and cryotherapy.
- Apply diagnostic and progressive functionality tests.
- Train, mentor, and coach team members to ensure department standards are met.
- Address scheduling needs to ensure proper coverage is provided.
Requirements
- Doctorate or Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy, or Bachelor’s degree with prior experience as a licensed Physical Therapist required.
- Current New York State license or a limited permit as a Registered Physical Therapist.
- Must be hired within 90 days of graduation from a New York State or APTA-accredited physical therapist education program and meet Practice Exemption under New York State Physical Therapy License Requirements if not holding a New York State license or limited permit.
