About the Role

The Residential Manager ensures the needs of individuals are met through a person-centered approach, promoting individual rights, health, safety, and partnering with individuals to achieve personal outcomes. This role leads a team and collaborates with clinical providers to develop and implement plans of care.

Responsibilities

  • Works in partnership with individuals to ensure their rights, health, safety, and personal outcomes are supported.
  • Advocates with individuals in various situations.
  • Teaches individuals new life skills.
  • Assists individuals in overcoming barriers to establish and maintain relationships and social roles.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with individuals, families, and collateral providers.
  • Uses general business operations knowledge to guide the team and program.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment for smooth operations.
  • Manages personnel by supervising, training, evaluating, and observing team members.
  • Interviews, hires, develops, and retains high-quality staff.
  • Partners with external providers to ensure services meet the needs of individuals.
  • Prevents, recognizes, and reports abuse toward individuals.
  • Ensures residence and individual finances are balanced and in compliance.
  • Covers DSP/MSS/DSS/MHSS responsibilities as needed.
  • Ensures all team members fulfill their roles and responsibilities through ongoing supervision and guidance.
  • Addresses performance issues through performance improvement or corrective action measures.
  • Reviews and approves employee timesheets and time-off requests.
  • Coordinates staffing schedules to maintain required levels and meet individual needs.
  • Ensures the residence, including the external property, is clean, safe, and attractive.
  • Ensures all required documentation is completed appropriately, in a timely manner, and meets quality and compliance thresholds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Coordinates, supports, attends, and participates in all required events/meetings/reviews/committees.

  • Ensures compliance with FREE policies, procedures, and operating standards.
  • Implements a continuous quality improvement process for department services and administrative functions.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and administration of Human Resources policies and programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • For OPWDD, a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities and/or mental health disorders is required.
  • For OMH, high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of human services experience.
  • For OMH, an associate’s degree in a human service-related field and a minimum of three (3) years of human services experience.
  • For OMH, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a human service-related field, or licensure as a qualified professional (e.g., Physician, Psychologist, Social Worker, Registered Nurse, LMFT, LMHC, Psychoanalyst, or Nurse Practitioner).
  • A Certified Peer Specialists (CPS) certification can be accepted in certain intensive crisis support settings.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience for both OPWDD and OMH is preferred.
  • Internal and external candidates with less than one year of supervisory experience will need to successfully complete internal management and supervisory skills training within 120 days of hire or transfer into the role.
  • Valid CPR/FA certification required (provided upon hire as needed).
  • Valid SCIP certification required (OPWDD Only – provided upon hire as needed).
  • Valid AMAP certification required (OPWDD Only – must be obtained within 120 days of hire).
  • Valid TRUST certification required (OMH Only – must be obtained within 120 days of hire).
  • Valid G-Tube and Insulin certifications required for specific OPWDD programs (must be obtained within 120 days of hire if needed).
  • Fundamental computer skills with the ability to learn and use various applications.
  • Proficient writing skills with grasp of basic grammar and spelling.
  • Knowledge of applicable OPWDD or OMH regulations regarding residential services.
  • Must be efficient, well organized, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and address conflicts and concerns within assigned program(s).
  • Effective decision-making and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid Driver’s License and satisfy criteria to be an agency driver required.
  • Ability to be on-call.
  • Ability to work a standard, full-time schedule of five (5) days per week and eight (8) hours per day, including at least one weekend day per week, with flexibility as needed to meet program needs.
