About the Role
Brightway Living & Learning is a premier non-profit provider of human services on Long Island, supporting over 1,600 children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities through a full continuum of care. This role is crucial in enabling individuals to grow, learn, and meet milestones.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, assess and screen clients using appropriate standardized testing and clinical observational skills
- Provide speech/language therapy according to mandated paperwork (i.e. IEP’s, IFSP etc.)
- Provide required documentation for services as outlined by program and/or supervisor
- Maintain documentation in a professional, efficient, accountable and confidential manner
- Attend all scheduled meetings and collaborate with other professionals, staff and families
- Maintain and update professional knowledge, skills and abilities through continuing education, in-service training or higher education
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
- NYSED licensure in Speech/Language Pathology
- TSHH certification
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to modify the area to secure the safety of children
- Ability to move/transport a child weighing up to 30 pounds to a height of 3 feet to place child on changing table
- Ability to move quickly after a child up to 200 feet to prevent elopement
- Ability to position self or maneuver classroom to facilitate student instruction in classroom and playground environment
- Ability to follow oral and written directions and detect/respond to fire alarms
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs with railing
