About the Role
Catholic Charities of Long Island is seeking a part-time Residential RN to provide medical oversight and care to residents with developmental disabilities in Copiague, LI. This role is crucial in ensuring the well-being of residents and supporting them in achieving their highest level of functioning.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess individuals for signs of acute illness and/or complications of chronic conditions within 24 hours of notification, communicating all medical changes to the team.
- Conduct weekly on-site nursing visits for health assessments and medical record reviews, ensuring timely completion of appointments and implementation of medical recommendations.
- Communicate with medical providers to ensure all resident medical needs are met.
- Perform in-service staff training on new and existing medical concerns.
- Ensure safe medication administration according to physician prescriptions and regulations.
Requirements
- Current NYS RN licensure
- Associates Degree in nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience working with the Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled population helpful
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with a team
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability and willingness to adjust work schedule according to resident care needs
