About the Role
Flex is seeking a Material Coordinator in Austin, TX, to manage material requirements, track inventory, and ensure production schedules are met. This role supports teams that build innovative products and offers opportunities for growth in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Compute the amount of material required to complete job orders.
- Review production schedules and confer with purchasing to ensure raw material adequacy.
- Requisition material and establish delivery dates according to production plans and priorities, avoiding excess inventory.
- Examine delivered materials to verify conformance to specifications.
- Arrange in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.
- Compile and maintain manual and computerized records of material inventory, production status, and material location.
- Create, update, execute, and analyze reports.
- Gather data, track, post, and pitch for action plans and root cause analysis.
- Prioritize data entry activities.
- Monitor and control the movement of material and parts for accurate inventory.
- Write and update procedures in document control.
- Follow distribution-related ISO procedures and Material Handling Guidelines.
- Conduct training sessions for department's MRP procedures.
- Administer the inventory cycle count program, reconcile discrepancies, resolve issues, and analyze reports.
- Identify parts and supplies needed to maintain specified stocking levels.
- Analyze stock usage and define correct stocking levels.
- Investigate unusual material and parts usage and suggest corrective methods.
- Stock and issue materials or merchandise.
- Add new part numbers to current inventory based on manufacturing input.
- Verify the accuracy of material kits against pick lists.
- Track defect levels on inspected kits, calculate quality performance, chart results, develop process improvements, and schedule work.
Requirements
- Completion of secondary school, vocational training, or equivalent.
- Experience in the use of computer applications.
- Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience in materials, planning, or a related function.
- Experience with Office Skills: typing, telephones, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation packages, and database systems.
- Inventory experience.
- BAAN or any ERP experience.
- Inventory Cycle count experience.
